Lily Rivers has never played for the algorithm. In an industry where too many DJs chase the viral clip and do whatever it takes for fame, the London DJ and producer still does it the way the icons did: with character, a point of view, and a dance floor that means it.
Her sound is built to make a room feel sexy. Deep, progressive and tech house runs into melodic techno, carried by synths and a dirty 808 bassline underneath. Every track has melody and purpose. She has no time for the soulless, melody-free psytrance filling viral feeds: it moves phones, not people. She plays for the crowd in front of her until everyone is engaged, dancing and lost in it.
“The icons I grew up with had something to say. Somewhere along the way people traded their voice for followers. I’d rather have a room that remembers the night.”
She is resident at KOKO London and its members’ club, House of KOKO. Her club credits run from Manchester’s 10,000-capacity Warehouse Project to Defected at Studio 338, Ministry of Sound, Egg London, Tobacco Dock with Beatport, Eden Ibiza, ADE in Amsterdam and Rinse FM, with shows from Los Angeles and New Orleans to the UAE, Marrakech, Istanbul and Reykjavik.
Fashion and luxury brands book her for the same reason. She has closed London Fashion Week runway shows, opened London flagship stores for Selfridges, Diesel, MAC and Guess, launched clubs for Third Space, and played Annabel’s, The Arts Club, Soho House and The Ned.
She started DJing while working at MTV, after a Master’s at the University of the Arts London. Her mixes reached the top of the global Mixcloud charts and led to five years hosting Dark Matter on Ibiza Global Radio. Featured in Mixmag and in Live Nation and Ticketmaster’s “Ones to Watch”, she released her debut single, Sakura, on her own label, Forgotten People Music. Her next release arrives in 2027. Expect it to have something to say.
